In turmoil and conflict, everyone gets a little bit of what they want.
Dems are Building Back Better, and passed an infra package. Repubs got gun loosening, and a huge anti-abortion win. The phony BLM and Patriot movements are withering under enduring scrutiny…ie. the long arm of justice.
Dems did it with the legislative and executive branches. Repubs did it with the judicial branch. No accident, crude politics, hugely effective.
This is REAL politics. Conflict. Grind. Extreme positions collide and collide and collude. Then we look up and things got done.
It was never different. Legislators settled disputes with gun duels in prior generations, back-room deals, and exploitation/pursuits of self-interests. Now, fortunately(?), we have sometimes-literate Twitter battles replacing gun duels, but the rest is pretty much the same.
We’ve elected advocates to be adversaries, and that’s what they do.
The outcomes reflect the myriad and complex challenge of mass co-exist. It’s brutal. And amazingly, and yet again, it works.
