Aw, how bad can it be? Really, Really, Really Bad.

Facts are a great place to start.

The unemployment rate in September 2024 was 4.1%, the highest it’s been during Biden’s presidency.  It was 6.4% when Trump left office. For those that want make the Covid excuse – as if a different President grossly mismanaged that –  the unemployment rate was 3.5% in February 2020, before Covid hit.  That was Trump’s best month. 

Biden’s best month produced a 3.4% unemployment rate, the lowest rate in 55 years.

Real wages DID go up, GDP DID rise., under Trump But that’s smoke and mirrors: Low-paying jobs disappeared under Covid, which temporarily moved average weekly wages up. Irresponsible degulation and unfunded tax cuts provided the rest of the juice.

Remember when Republicans ran on a “Balanced Budget?” Trump made a campaign promise that he’d lower the debt. Then he proceeded to run it up from 20 Trillion to 28.7 Trillion, an increase of over 25%. 

His economy wasn’t “amazing.” It was OK, and completely de-railed by Covid.  Like Trump, it was a facade that couldn’t handle a gut punch.  A good economy is resilient. His wasn’t.

If Trump wins, he won’t have the same tailwinds he inherited in 2016, with record low inflation and interest rates, and money and debt flowing like water. The lay of the land is much tougher now.  And the Titans he’s partnered with have little interest in your job, other than to eliminate it.

Moreover, his “plan” is a house of cards, a potpourri of old, unoriginal ideas that are contrary to Capitalism itself. 

Let’s start with tariffs. Trump believes tariffs will compel American companies to pull their business back here, and cause more Americans to buy American. 

But what makes the price of those goods go down? Production of goods moved off-shore because it was less expensive. Because as consumers, we demanded it.

We’re not willing to pay more for “Made American.” Cheap labor will have been deported. CEOs won’t slash profits. What’s going to happen to prices and jobs? 

Here’s what going to happen: More Automation and AI.

The New Trump Titans – Musk and Thiel chief among them – are not interested in preserving your job.  They are interested in complete deregulation to run rampant. They are interested in fully automating every single function they can with robotics and AI. They are interested in building libertarian city-states, robot taxis, and space colonies.

They are NOT interested in your well-being. They are NOT interested in Unions and Government that interfere with the mass elimination of jobs, and even less interested in the necessary social programs to keep families afloat as AI and automation gobble up jobs.

That means AI and robots will take your job, Trump won’t stop it, and there won’t be robust social programs to help you. 

Again, facts: over 500,000 Americans died during the Covid epidemic. The US had the highest death rate of any “first world” country. 

No other President allowed this many Americans to die since the early 1900s.

Trump called Covid a hoax, then threw money at it, then, while America picked itself back up, changed the topic back to him, and the election he lost. 

He took no responsibilty, showed no contrition, and gave no indication that he’d do it any differently next time. 

But sadly, if he wins, he WILL do it differently, and it will be dramatically more dangerous.

He’s going to make Robert F. Kennedy Jr. the Surgeon General. He’s going to enable the aforementioned RFK to, in Trump’s own words, “go crazy on Health (care).”

Junior didn’t just fight the Covid vaccine. He opposes all compulsory vaccines, measles, chicken pox, small pox. He fortifies his opposition with fringe medical opinions, fueled by bent libertarian notions, not interest in your health.

Kennedy, Jr. got his Bachelor’s in American History and Literature, then went to law school. 

He’s an adulterer and an admitted sex addict, apparently capable of delivering orgasmic experiences over multiple modalities.

He’s not a Doctor. 

RFK, Jr. is a fun nut. Having a fun nut as Surgeon General will equate to you and your family being exposed to diseases and epidemics, new and old.

Remember, Trump doesn’t just want to deport illegal immigrants, and keep asylum seekers at the border, he also wants to change laws to “undocument” work-eligible immigrants.

Our Haitian friends in Springfield are a great example: they are here legally, specifically to fulfill needed labor in Springfield.  JD Vance responded to this fact by stating this was a result of a “Kamala Harris” law that the Trump administration would kill.

Trump will stymie and villify the legal immigrant labor workforce and Jobs will go Unfilled.

Trump plans to tear apart and rebuild the Environmental Protection Agency, replacing scientists with political appointees. 

As he did in his first presidency, he will relax laws and restrictions on pollutants being released into the air and water, and as it did in his first Presidency, those pollutants will go up.

And of course, fossil fuel. “Drill baby Drill!”  

It is only in a Climate Denial world that drilling and burning more fossil fuel doesn’t continue to overheat the world. 100 year storms are already becoming every year storms.

But when the storms do come, there won’t be programs to help you. Trump will eliminate Climate Change as a topic, which means removing Climate Change Remediation as a topic.  You’ll be on your own. Your insurance and taxes will skyrocket, or you’ll self-fund rebuilding your house, if you survive.

Doubt it? Read about Florida, right now. It’s not going to get better, and denial will harm those impacted.

With Trump as President, Your Kids will Get Sick from Pollutants, Your Homes will Flood, and The Government Will Not Help You

Let’s use a Republican issue for this one: Abortion.

The Pro-LIfe movement is not about popularity, or majority opinion. It’s about the individual rights of the unborn.

But Trump was never in it to to save babies. He was in it to win votes. Unborn babies have been left at the altar of popular opinion, Trump never intended to protect them.

Conversely, Trump will also allow conservatve state legislatures to go through extraordinary measures to avoid public referendums that would codify abortion rights. Because he doesn’t care about pregnant women if and until there’s enough of them to sway his popularity.

Trump does not protect individuals, or unpopular minorities with little voter impact. He won’t protect the Weak, he’ll champion the Strong.

Constitutionalists that made it past the 1st and 2nd Amendment, and actually get what makes our Democracy so great, understand that the LAST thing the Founding Fathers stood for was a Tyranny of the Majority, they found a way to write a document that allows for popular votes and elections, but still protects individual rights and minorities.

Trump lives in a Power Rules world. Under his Presidency, so Will You.

A Florida grandma shoots through her door without even opening it, killing a black Mom of 3. She said she was “scared.” 

In Minneapolis last week, a white man shot his black neighbor in the neck for the crime of trimming a tree that loomed over the black man’s property. This is after a full-year of racially-based harrassment, including 20 complaints to police.

By way of reminder, Minnesota is where George Floyd happened. “We’ve come a long way, baby?” Not really.

Oh, these are exceptions, you say, crazy people acting out.  Ok: Think about the last time you heard a black person killed a white person for being white, after a pattern of racial harrassment. I’ll give you a minute.

Here’s the answer: It doesn’t happen. There’s not a national leader stoking hatred against white people. There IS a national leader stoking hatred against brown people.

Haitians are now targeted. Any brown people, in any town, that have arrived via immigration – legally or otherwise – will have similar targets on their backs. For every Trump supporter that wears a tie, there are 2 driving a pick up truck with a rifle and confedarate flag. 

He gets on planes, and presents, with Laura Linhard, who thinks making curry jokes about Indian candidates is funny. He hires comedians like Tony Hutchinson, who makes watermelon jokes about black people, and garbage jokes about Puerto Rican people. In 2024. At Madison Square Garden.

Trump has not only given permission, he’s given tacit approval.

You are hurting your Black and Brown Friends if You Put Donald Trump in Office

Trump has made not a single statement objecting to Russian aggression. Melania, a Russian expatriate, has not said a word, despite finding her (very dull) voice recently.

Trump HAS spoken out against Ukraine and Zelensky, both before the invasion, and after. He HAS criticized and impugned NATO.

Donald Trump has little interest in fundamental human rights and goodness, and believes Power should Rule.

Trump has showed and told us what wants to do: Buddy Up With Putin and Rule the World.

Trump is the progenitor of a new type of politician: hateful, lying, sensionalist, violent, armed, deconstructionist and self-focused.

Does anyone, even a Republican, actually want to follow a Matt Goetz, Marjorie Taylor-Green, or Lauren Boebert? Does anyone believe that Paul Gosar and Nancy Mace are in Congress for the good of the People?

Trump has normalzed lying. He has normalized insult politics. He has normalized casting dissent as disloyalty, slut-shaming women, and crass language.

He’s lowered the office. Presidents can curse, insult and even cheat on their wives, but to do it as blatantly as Trump does, without the professional veneer that we all apply to keep our jobs, has diminished the job, and diminished us.

A Trump Presidency Will Further Erode our National Character

The best man or woman won’t get the job, Conservative or otherwise. The most loyal man or woman will.

RFK Jr. pretending to be a Doctor won’t even be the worst of it. Like Trump donning a cowboy hat or space suit for his NFTs, they will all be posers, preening for Trump.

Maybe you think Cabinet jobs don’t matter. You’re wrong. Trump will appoint Bumbling, Unqualified Loyalists to the Most Important Jobs in the Country, and that will have a palpable negative effect on health care, infrastructure, transportation, money, foreign policy and housing.
